Final Regular Season
Weekend Roundup
Wednesday July 5

July 5

The roundup starts with the final game of the year with the crosstown rival Mounties. As always, a hard fought game with the teams not wanting to give anything up. The game to place at the Pepperdome and started with a feeling out process for both teams with the first goal not being scored till 5:30 left in the first when Cam Wengreniuk got the Raiders going. This was after some amazing saves by Kevin Orleman which had kept the game scoreless as the Raiders were looking to find their stride. The goal by Wengreniuk started a nice run for the boys as they then put in 4 goals in 3:03 seconds to come out of the first period with a 4-0 lead. Brett McIntyre, Levi Anderson and Wengreniuk second of the night capped of this outburst.

The second period was a lot more of the same with the teams exchanging chances but the offenses not being able to solve the goalies with any regularity. Carter Brand and Zach Mantei scored for the Raiders in the period while Orleman was finally solved just before the half way mark of the game on a power play goal from the Mounties. The second period ended with the Raiders up 6-2 and looking to improve the season series record to 4-1 versus the Mounties.

The third period saw the offenses from both sides start to click as the teams combined for 5 goals each in the period. The Mounties scoring 3 in a row to start the period brought the score to 7-6 before the Raiders offence got back on track and scored 5 of the last 7 in the period to give the Raiders an 11-7 final and a 4-1 season series victory. The veterans led the way in this period with 2 goals from each McIntyre and Dylan Kinnear while Travis Getz added a single.

Absorb LMS Player of the Game on this night having a strong game on the back end was Brett Craig while the Bigeye Productions’ Jordan McKinnon Hardest Working Raider on the night was Dylan Kinnear who cranked it up in the third with a couple goals to secure the win and took a beating all night inside on the power play.
