So this past weekend saw the Raiders play Friday and Sunday against the Edmonton Miners and was capped off by an awesome family BBQ after the game on Sunday!!
Friday night’s game was a very special night for the Raiders as it marked the Jordan McKinnon Memorial Game. The boys had very heavy hearts on this night as they paid tribute to a teammate that is sorely missed and will forever be in our hearts and be a Raider. After a very moving reading by Coach Jesse with what Jordan had written as to what it meant to be a Raider the boys were all fired up and ready to go!
With what may have been as dominating a period as the boys have had on the offensive side of the ball the first period started with a bang as the Raiders took a commanding lead of 11-1 after the first. And it wasn’t just the O scoring as the transition got involved in the scoring as well with 4 of the 11 goals coming from transition including Caehlan Bullen’s first Jr A goal. In total 8 different players scored in the period (Kinnear 3, McIntyre 2, Anderson, Bullen, Hamm, Brand, Moroney, Getz) for the Raiders and they never looked back.
The second period was not as offensively driven but still saw the Raiders score 4 more goals (McIntyre 2, Getz, Brand) as the defensive kept up its strong play limiting the Miners chances and shots on net but when they did Brendan Wilhelm was there to pretty much shut the door. The score was 15-2 at the end of the second.
The third period saw the Raiders play smart ball and put 3 more (McIntyre, Anderson, Hamm) past the Miners goalie while shutting out the Miners in the period for a final score of 18-2. A fitting tribute to Jordan and strong effort from the Raiders.
Absorb LMS Player of the Game was Levi Anderson having a strong showing playing out the back door for the first time this season while taking many of the draws and running the floor. The Bigeye Productions’ Hardest Working Raider, which will now be known as Bigeye Productions’ the Jordan McKinnon Hardest Working Raider, went to Dylan Ferrier.
