GAME REPORT
GAME 4

July 31, 2017

Game 4 came with our Raiders able to wrap up the series and punch our ticket to the Minto Cup but we knew it wasn’t going to be easy. As they say game 4 is always the toughest to win.

The first period showed that the Mounties were definitely out to prove that they would not go away quietly with a very quick start, scoring just 1:23 into the period and following it up with a second to have a 2-0 lead before the Raiders were able to find the net at the 13:27 mark when Brett McIntyre started off the scoring for our boys. This goal was followed up by a Dylan Kinnear goal to tie the score up and it looked the Raiders were starting to roll. But the Mounties were out to prove differently and they scored three more to end the period with a 5-2 lead.

The second didn’t start any better for our Raiders as the Mounties continued to push and continued to have a 5 goal run before Harrison Matsuoka ended the run at 12:04 of the period. The teams then exchanged a couple of goals with Kade McCormick scoring at 11:03 and then after another Mounties goal it was 9-4 with just over 6 minutes left in the period. The Raiders then looked to once again try and end the series on this night as they came on with 3 goals. Started at 5:31 Kinnear with his second of the night was followed by Cam Wengreniuk at 3:28 and then Jesse Chong at 3:22 of the draw and the Raiders had pulled back to 9-7 down at the end of two.

Could the third continue to see the Raiders make the come back and end the series? The Mounties were able to stop the Raiders run to go up 10-7 before the boys scored a couple of quick goals at 14:45 with McCormick getting his second of the game and then at 14:24 McIntyre also got his second and it was now back to 10-9 game and was shaping up for an exciting finish. But the Raiders couldn’t seem to get things going our way as we had a number of chances in the third and hit 6 posts in the period but unfortunately the Mounties got a couple and we just couldn’t get a break and the score ended 12-9 Mounties.

So it is back to Max Bell and game 5 on Wed Aug 2 at 8pm. Be sure to come out and cheer the boys on as they try again to punch our ticket to the Minto Cup. Should be an awesome game. Lets go get them Raiders!!
