GAME UPDATE

 Wednesday June 14

Well as they say all good things must come to an end…and so it was with the Raiders winning streak to start the season. In round 3 of the season series with the Mounties on Wednesday night the Raiders we handed the first loss of the season. It was a hard fought battle but in the end the Mounties out lasted the home side 13-11. Not without their chances the Raiders certainly could have had a better result but the goalies best friend the posts definitely helped out.

The game started off quick on this night with Dylan Kinnear getting his first of four on the night just a 1:14 into the contest. This lead certainly did not last long as the Mounties were quick to tie it up just 33 seconds later. The period saw the teams exchange some goals but the Mounties were able to come out of the first period with a 7-4 lead.

The second period saw the Raiders tighten up on the defensive end of the floor in limiting the shots that the Mounties were able to direct toward Brendyn Kendall who came on in relief of Brendan Wilhelm and took this period 4-3 to make the score 10-8 at the end of 2. This strong defensive effort included a strong 4 min penalty kill which was defensed well in our end with some key saves as well as time run off the clock with the offensive ragging the ball in the offensive end.

The third period the boys looked to come out and pull one out and kept getting within a goal but the Mounties were always able to respond to get that 2 goal lead and keep if for the final score of 13-11. The team was lead offensively tonight by Kade McCormick (2G 4A) 6 points while Dylan Kinnear (4G 1A) and Brett McIntyre (2G 3A) both chipped in with 5 points.
The Absorb LMS Player of the Game for this night was Dylan Kinnear with Jesse Chong getting the nod as the Bigeye Productions’ Hardest Working Raider.

The boys head up to Edmonton on Friday to take on the Blues and then see the Mounties on Wed June 18 visiting Stu Peppard for the first time this season. Have a great trip Friday boys and let’s get back to our winning ways!!

Also don’t forget our Big Silent Auction and pub night Saturday at Shanks North. Bid on some great items and get together with all the Raider Family for a fun night.
