GAME 1 v. Mountaineers
Weekday Roundup
Wednesday May 31

Well the first game of the year with the crosstown rival Mounties didn’t disappoint. On a night when both teams were looking to take the first game in this rivalry the teams started to feel each other out with the first goal not coming till over 5 mins into the game when Levi Anderson found the back of the net to get the Raiders going. They continued with a strong period as the defense shut down the often high powered Mountie offense to see the first period have a 4-1 score for the Raiders.

The second started with Raiders D continuing to shut down the Mounties and the offense built up a 6-1 lead. But as the Mounties can show their offense went on a run and with a 4 goals to finish off the second the Raiders still were able to keep a 7-5 lead at the end of second as the Mounties were coming on.

The third period saw the teams trade 2 goals each but Joey Janvier was able to shut the door with a strong defense in front of him keeping the Mounties to just 7 goals, when they started the season averaging just under 13 per game.

The Raiders draw first blood in the series and a 9-7 win! The offense was led by Brett McIntyre (4G, 2A) and Levi Anderson (2G, 4A). Was also great to see Cam Wengreniuk back in the Raider colors after a successful year at college with a championship and MVP in the finals behind him he got things going with a goal and assist, surely the first of many to come.
The boys get ready for a big weekend with a tough trip to Saskatoon seeing them playing 3 games in 3 days which will surely test the resolve of this group that starts the season off with 7 wins in a row.
The Absorb LMS Player of the Game on the night was Brett McIntyre with Danny Wright getting the Bigeye Productions Hardest Working Raider.
Game 2 of this season series will be June 9 which will be our Minor Lacrosse Night so be sure to come fill the Bell and support the Raiders.
