WEEKEND UPDATE

Hey Raider Nation!

Well, that was a good weekend for the Raiders but very busy with 3 games in 3 days! That was just the start of the toughest stretch of the season, with the crosstown rival Mounties coming to the Bell on Wednesday night and then another road trip for the crew to Saskatoon for 3 more games in 3 days.

MAY 26

It started with a strong effort on Friday night in Saint Albert with another battle against the Miners. It was a bit of a slow start for the boys with the Miners coming out and getting an early 2-0 lead before Jett Leonard-Bedier got us started with a goal just over 12 mins in. That was the first of 3 goals that night for Jett. The boys then got rolling with a couple of short-handed goals, followed by a power play goal and came out of the first period with a 5-3 lead. After that, the boys really closed it down on defense and only gave up one more goal the rest of the way and finished with a 15-4 win! What a performance by the defensive side! Friday then marked the return of a couple more players from school with Brett McIntyre and Harrison Matsuoka returning to the line up. Brett’s return was welcomed by the offensive with him chipping in 4 goals and 3 assists. Travis Getz kept up his scoring ways with another 3 goals and 5 assists. All in all, a very strong night at both ends of the floor!

The Absorb LMS Player of the Game was Brett McIntyre who was playing in his first game back from University of Maryland, Baltimore County. The Bigeye Productions’ Hardest working Raider was Connor Finlay.

Coaches Comments:

Coach Hayes –

‘Thought the team played well. Had a good transition weekend I thought. There is still lots to work on but we are moving forward in the right direction. Always want to improve and I think from the coaches down we can work on that.’

Coach Banister –

‘I thought we played pretty solid in all three games. We had to battle through some adversity a few times but managed to stick to our game plan and get a big 6 points’
