Game 5 Summary
After the Mountaineers scored three goals in the first period, one short handed, Dylan Kinnear (Jordan Getz, Myles Hamm) opened the scoring with a powerplay goal for the Raiders with just 11 seconds remaining in the 1st period. Score at the end of 1st, Raiders- Mountaineers, 1-3 and penalties 6 minutes to 7.

Dylan(Jordan Getz, Kade McCormick) scored again at 1:26 of the second. Both goals were scored on a 5 minute penalty by Mountaineers’ McLean, who got another 5 minutes and game misconduct in the third period for mauling Raiders’ players. Raiders’ players showed restraint in spite of the roughing incidents that were called as well as those unpenalized in the game. Raiders’ Jordan Getz (Marshall Gibson) tied the game at 3 a minute and a half later at 2:54. Kade McCormick (Travis Getz, Jordan Getz) scored at 11:52 of the second to put the Raiders ahead 4-3, only to allow at Mountaineers goal 45 seconds later to tie the game at four. With five minutes left in the second and a Raider in the penalty box, the Mountaineers scored to go ahead 5-4. Score at end of 2nd, Raiders Mountaineers 4-5 and penalties 6 minutes to 4.

In the third there was no scoring until 11:01, in spite of one and 2 man advantages for the Raiders. Kade McCormick (Drake Smith, Travis Getz) scored his second even strength goal to tie the game at 5. The Mountaineers scored a minute 44 later to go ahead 6-5. The Raiders had their chances in the third. Mountaineers were called for 2 five minute penalties in the third and with only 1:44 left on the clock the Mountaineers bench received a 2 minute penalty. The Raiders pulled the goalie and were unable to score. Neither were the Mountaineers who faced an open net, ran the floor, and appeared to score but committed a crease infraction on the empty net. It gave the Raiders a chance and fans a roller coaster finish. Final score Raiders- Mountaineers 5-6 and penalties in the 3rd 6-22. Shots were not available.
